This will be a very short week due to our school-based PD Day and Teachers' Convention at the end of the week. We will, however, pack a great deal into a small amount of time. We will be meeting with watercolour artist Tanya Rogoschewsky for our second of three lessons with her. We will also have a short presentation by a docent from the MacKenzie Art Gallery about famous landscapes through art history. Of course, with Heritage Fair looming ever closer, we will work hard on this to complete our essays this week and begin looking at what makes a display board a "winner".
Our city's regional heritage fair has been reduced in size considerably this year, so our school has been notified that we will only be able to send half of the students we sent last year. This is upsetting to me, as the students have all worked so hard. If anything, I would have liked to have seen an increase in the numbers we could send to regionals. Regardless, this Heritage Fair should not be seen as a contest by the students, but rather as a celebration of what they have learned through the inquiry process!
